Well, we’ve introduced you to nearly our entire 40 person staff here at OSC. We’ve got some newbies you still need to meet — but we wanted to use our Friday Feature blog posts to highlight businesses in the community we’ve worked with, sponsored or been involved with in some way. With that, every few weeks, we’ll pick a business or nonprofit and share their mission and our involvement in this. We can’t wait to introduce you to some amazing local folks we love!
What would you say if your boss asked you to throw on a harness and rappel 110 feet down the side of of a building? For three OSCers, this became a reality a few weeks ago when they were offered the chance to do something pretty daring….but for a really great cause.
This Friday, August 11th — we’ll send three of our bravest over the edge of the famous Black Building in downtown Fargo to support a charity that we are so proud to be partnering with.
CHARISM is a local nonprofit that provides support and outreach programs for at-risk children, youth and adults in the area. Our team of volunteers at OSC recently had the opportunity to get to know more about this organization after serving alongside them at their After School Program and we just fell in love with their mission and the purpose behind what they do.
This year, we’re so excited to be a part of helping them welcome the nationwide Over the Edge event to North Dakota for the first time ever. Yep, you heard that right. And the coolest part about Over the Edge? This one-day fundraising event is taking place all over the country on Friday, which means hundreds, if not thousands of people from all over are committing to send some of their best “over the edge” for a cause that is near and dear to their community. Now that’s cool.
A little bit more about CHARISM….with a deep commitment to building stronger neighborhoods, CHARISM does a lot. In fact, they’ve been pouring their hearts into this community since 1994, that’s nearly 23 years of building a better Fargo! Here’s a few ways they accomplish this:
We’re sure the list could go on, but those are just a handful of ways that CHARISM works in our community. We feel so lucky to get to be involved in this mission with them as we continue to volunteer with them as well as provide them with needed signage for events such as Over the Edge. Thanks for all you do, CHARISM!

And now, for a quick profile of the three brave OSCers going over the edge and what they had to say about volunteering for this amazing cause….
Jumper: Travis Richter
Title: Web Development Manager at Office Sign Company
“I believe in raising money to support children. Anything we can do to create a brighter future for next generations is a positive thing. If I can rappel down a nine story building in the city I grew up in to show my support, I’m totally up for the challenge!”
Jumper: Justin Montplaisir
Title: Accountant
“It’s always so much fun working for a business that sponsors events like these that allow us to give back to our local community! The fact that we also get to be a part of the event and go Over The Edge is even better!”
Jumper: Josh Grimley
Title: Graphics Installation Specialist
“I’m actually afraid of large heights but this sounds like a rare opportunity I couldn’t pass up and I think this is a good way to persevere and overcome some of that.”
So Fargo, see you there? Over the Edge takes place TODAY, August 11th on Broadway from 9am-3pm and this is not something you’re going to want to miss.
