Company culture is incredibly important to us here at Office Sign Company. We pride ourselves in being a leader in our industry when it comes to taking the reigns on providing a positive place for our employees to work. It’s been no easy task to create this in an industry that doesn’t typically offer up such benefits. But at the end of the day, our leadership truly embraces the fact that happy employees who feel valued in their workplace will naturally perform better, achieve higher goals and feel more satisfied with their work.
So how exactly do we do this? With a team that has grown exponentially over the last two years and most recently split into two locations, we’re sometimes thrown a bit of a curveball. But we welcome the challenge as it allows us the opportunity to get creative. So here’s nine ways we’ve found success in promoting a positive employee culture.
- We listen. On a weekly basis, we check-in with our staff through a platform called TinyPulse. This platform allows employees to answer a question and provide any feedback, positive or negative, anonymously.
- We cheer each other on. TinyPulse also has the capability to send “cheers” to peers; basically a virtual pat on the back for a job well done. Employees are encouraged to recognize their peers hard work and send them cheers!
- We prioritize. This year, we implemented a culture committee at our office, a group of five individuals who meet twice a month to discuss ideas, plan events and brainstorm new ideas to improve our workplace.
- We realize the importance of the little things. Every Friday, we have donuts or bagels delivered to each location as a “thank you” for a week of hard work.
- We encourage growth. We regularly encourage our employees to speak up when they want to grow within the company and we strive to offer opportunities to do so. We also offer opportunities for professional and personal growth as we encourage our employees to attend local events and trainings within their field.
We take time to be together as a team. Office Sign Company is like one (very big) family and as we grow and expand, we never want to lose that closeness. At least once per quarter, we plan an event that brings all of our teams together in a fun, laid-back setting. Most recently we held a company retreat and up next we’ll be cooking breakfast for our team before a company-wide meeting.
- We cultivate strong coworker relationships. With near weekly events, our staff has often taken it upon themselves to plan events together outside of work. Be it volunteering, Bingo night, movie night or simply getting together for a meal, we’re thrilled to see our team embracing friendships made here at work. We strongly encourage this and love watching our team go from coworkers to friends.
- We embrace flexibility and promote work-life balance. Flexibility is absolutely key. We aim to provide structure in the workplace but understand that life happens so we give grace and allow for flexibility whenever we can and promote a healthy work-life balance.
- We set a high standard for a positive company culture. All companies have some kind of culture and it is our aim to continually strive to create a positive atmosphere for our team. We have big goals and high standards for ourselves when it comes to company culture.
There ya have it, folks. We’re a work in progress, that’s for sure (aren’t we all?!) But we sure do love our team and strive to show them how much we value them by providing the best company culture possible. What does your company do to create a fun company culture? We’d love to hear about it!
