Signs…at a wedding? Yep, you read that right, Office Sign Company is talking about weddings today. Stick with us, you might be surprised by just how important good signage at your wedding really is.
Just think about it, we’ve all been to that wedding or event where you have no idea 1) what the schedule is 2) what’s for dinner and 3) where the heck the bathroom is. But the solution is actually quite simple. Yep, you guessed it, signs.
Just as signage in a building is important, so too is signage at any event, or in this case, wedding. A lot of people choose to go the DIY route for wedding signs (or at least, I did!) which is so sweet and personal, but realistically it was the one thing that I stayed up until 10pm working on the night before our wedding, because really, who has time for that? Signs were something that I knew I needed, but just didn’t have the time for. Luckily, there is still the opportunity to create something personal without it keeping you up late the night before the biggest day of your life.
So to help out you busy brides-to-be, or the overstressed bridesmaids, the overworked groom-to-be or the parents of the bride….we made you a handy little resource for all things wedding signage.
The Essential Signs
A personalized welcome sign. Let your guests know they are in the right place! Especially if you venue has more than one event or wedding that day!
Parking Signs. “No Uncle Jim, you can’t park in the middle of the lawn.” If your venue doesn’t have an established parking lot, it might fall on you to let your guests know where they can or can’t park.
Restroom sign. Without a doubt, someone will get lost while looking for the bathroom. It just always happens. Help your guests out a bit and be sure to have wayfinding signs that direct them to the loo.
Schedule of events. This one can be a total life-saver and help you avoid that awkward conversation with your second cousin, twice removed, who keeps asking when the bar opens.
Seating assignment. There’s nothing worse than a group of a few hundred wandering around and looking for their seat. Create a clear seating chart and display it in an easy to view place to avoid confusion.
Menu. Display what’s for dinner in a fun way and get your guests excited about meal time.
Gift table sign. Avoid the awkward confusion of half of your cards and gifts ending up on cake table and have a sign that specifies where guests should sign the guestbook and where gifts and cards should land.
The Sweet Little Extras (that can double as keepsakes!)
Bride & groom chair signs. Everyone loves this personal touch that identifies the sweetheart table. Plus…this is the only time you’ll ever be a bride, or groom, so embrace the title!
Ring bearer sign. The final moments before the bride walks down the aisle are like one big inhale…put your groom and your guests at ease with something funny or sweet.
Wedding hashtag sign. Let your wedding guests know where and how to tag photos on social media so you’ll find ’em later on.
Share your love story. Everyone loves a good love story….that is why they’re at your wedding anyway, isn’t it? Fill in the details of your love story for family and friends to relive during your big day.
