Customization vs. Personalization
If you’re a loyal follower of our Office Sign Company (OSC) social media, you may have seen our new series, “Just Ask Jack.” If this is the case, we commend you for furthering your signage knowledge with us! If not, we may have just provided you with an OSC original series to binge watch. You are welcome.
To give you a little background, the “Jack” behind “Just Ask Jack” is the Marketing Director for OSC. As a “Jack-of-all-trades,” we deemed it only necessary for him to answer your frequently asked questions (FAQ’s). Though we have a detailed FAQ page on our website, we can all agree that sometimes it’s just easier to have a video walk you through your questions. With that, we give you “Just Ask Jack.”
Upon ordering signage, you may have a lot of questions. “What kind or regulations do I need to follow?” or “How do I send a vector file? What exactly is a vector file?” Fear not, we’re turning these FAQ’s into videos to hopefully shed some light on these questions, and provide a bit of entertainment along the way!
In this particular “Just Ask Jack,” we briefly went over the difference between customization and personalization. If you’re anything like me, you may not have known there was even a difference. A little something I learned from our new series! Here are some main takeaways from our most recent episode, found above.
Can I personalize this product?
In short, yes! Personalization is included in every product. Everything is made to order, meaning we don’t stock anything in-house. You place the order, we’ll personalize it how you’d like! That’s the beauty of personalizing; from colors to font to materials, deck your space the way you’d like to see it.
Do you do any custom work?
In the words of a true Midwesterner, “you betcha.” Custom signage is actually our most popular seller. If you have an idea, all you need to do is get in contact with our Customer Service or account management team, and we will guide you with the type of material, mounting, and sizing necessary to make your sign a reality. We’re not going to try to nickle and dime you by any means. We will give you the most durable, standard option for your needs at the most affordable price. If you already have an idea of what you’d like but need to know pricing for your custom request, simply visit our “Get a Quote” link and fill out the information!
What’s the difference between Customized and Personalized?
For the most part, these terms can be used interchangeable, one of these just requires a bit more work. Personalization determines the color, font, material, etc. of your sign. For example, you’d like to order one of the conference room signs on our site, but would like to change out the insert for a different color, and you’d maybe like a different font. That’s personalizing your sign in action!
Customization, on the other hand, is where we start from scratch, which furthermore requires a little more turnaround time, and can be more expensive to ensure your sign is up to par. However, if we notice a “custom sign” come through multiple times, we then make it a prototype to make the professionalization process easier for you!
