While I haven’t had many chances to work directly with Nick, the few interactions we’ve had have been nothing short of belly-laugh inducing. This funny guy knows just how to loosen up a room while still being one of the hardest workers around Office Sign Company. We’re so glad to have him on our team! Hear more from Nick himself….
Name: Nick Bruggeman
Position at OSC: Production Printer
Tell us a little bit more about what this entails? I typically set up files for production and print artwork for our sublimation team. I’m also learning to run other machines like the UV Printer and try to make time to prototype new product ideas and designs.
Where did you go to college? I went to MSUM and I majored in Graphic Communications with an emphasis in print production and have a minor in Mass Communications with an emphasis in journalism.
Where did you start your career? OSC has been my first full-time design job, before that, I only have done freelance and personal work.
How long have you been with OSC? Close to 5 years now.
Favorite thing about your job at OSC? My coworkers as well as the culture. I like how casual we can be with each other as well as being more like friends than just coworkers. And just being able to have fun at work.
Favorite OSC tradition, event or work perk? Everybody’s favorite always seems to be the yearly RedHawks game and I’d have to agree. But, I really do enjoy every little planned out event the company puts on since I see how much time and energy is devoted to making these fun things happen.
Favorite thing about Fargo / Moorhead? I like that it’s a nice little halfway point between living in a small town and a big city. You get to experience a little bit of both.
When I’m not at OSC you can find me….Most likely at home working on home improvements around the house or trying to clean up after my muddy puppers.
Favorite place to travel to? I haven’t traveled a whole lot, but my wife and I did take a Europe trip a couple years ago and we would really like to see more of Germany and Austria.
Favorite restaurant in town? Ohhhh it would be a close tie between King House Buffet because I am a fan of kings as well as houses, and Wurst Bier Hall because I am a fan of beer and halls.
Favorite sports team? Skol Vikes!
What advice would you give to younger people trying to get into your profession? Never stop learning, especially in this industry. The degree is so vague that you really have no idea what kind of job you may have once you get out of college. Once you start working you will continuously learn and adapt to your job. Also be open to criticism in the profession, its too easy to get too attached to the work you do and not be able to take advice from others on what you’ve done, but be open to anybody trying to help you be better at what you do.
