#FridayFeature – Meet Our Production Artist, Aly!
It’s safe to say that our crew was excited about our new Production Artist, Alyssa Cumming, upon our first encounter with her. After her interview, she extended a friendly handshake to all and took it upon herself to attend our quarterly meeting, even before her first day!
From her outgoing personality to her work ethic, we knew she’d fit in with our culture and our “Arties.” For those who don’t know, the Arties here at Office Sign Company are made up of the talented group of individuals who design a solid percentage of the orders that go through our site daily – the Art Department. Aly, we’re excited to have you on board! Read on to learn more about our latest and greatest!

- What’s your name? “Alyssa Cumming, but you can call me Aly!”
- Where are you originally from? “Plymouth, Minnesota.”
- What’s your current position at Office Sign Company? “Production Artist.”
- Can you tell us what all that will entail? “Designing and proofing the artwork that gets put onto signs!”
- What did you graduate with? “I graduated in December of 2017 from Minnesota State University, Moorhead with a degree in BFA Graphic Design and a Minor in Art History.”
- Have you worked anywhere previously? “At Office Depot as a Print Center Specialist.”
- Do you have any hidden talents or random fun facts you’d like to share? “I have a slight obsession with big cats of any kind (also house cats), but this past November I got to visit my favorite big cat rescue facility that I have been following on social media for years. It is called the Center for Animal Research and Education (CARE) and it’s located in Texas. It was a dream come true!”
- What are you most looking forward to while working here? “Having the opportunity to launch my professional career with a company that has an amazing culture and a fast-pace work environment, so no days will ever be boring!”
- What’s your favorite part about this community? “Being from a large city and graduating from a huge high school was kind of isolating at times. Moving to a smaller community such as Fargo/Moorhead has been much less intimidating, especially since all the people here are so inclusive and friendly.”
- When I”m not as OSC, you can find me…. “At home, streaming TV shows and snuggling with my cat. I also love crafting and cooking/baking from new recipes (when I have time).”
- What’s your favorite meal/restaurant in Fargo? “There are so many great places in Fargo, but recently I’ve been going to The Toasted Frog frequently to eat some of their delicious cheesy fried pickles.”
- What advice would you give to younger people trying to get into your profession? “Be confident in yourself and the skills you’ve learned in and outside of school. Also, always try to challenge yourself to try new things because that’s the only way you’ll grow as a professional and as a person.”
