Name: Chris Johnson
Position at OSC: Engraving Department
Tell us a little bit more about what this entails? Throwin’ tactile onto many different plates, and makin’ em look very profesh.
Where did you go to college? Concordia College ’06, Bachelor of Arts in Pre-professional Studio Art, and English Writing.
Where did you start your career? I was stuck in blue collar jobs for a long time trying to pay back school loans.
How long have you been with OSC? 1 month
Favorite thing about your job at OSC? On the best days, it’s like working in an Art Department for 8 hours.
Favorite OSC tradition, event or work perk? I believe I haven’t really attended any yet, However the Brewery visits seem quite tantalizing.
Favorite thing about Fargo / Moorhead? Small town feel that is growing every day.
When I’m not at OSC you can find me….Either playing a board game, or praciticing or playing onstage for one of my bands, or reading a very large book.
Favorite restaurant in town? Izumi Sushi, or Thai Orchid.
Favorite sports team? I don’t really have one. So, in place of that, I will give you my 3 favorite board games, because that is FAR nerdier.
Scythe
Power Grid
Tash-Kalar
What advice would you give to younger people trying to get into your profession?
Learn as much as you can about the tools you will need beforehand. That way, starting something new is not as daunting because you memorized all the little bits.
I’d barely known Chris for five minutes before realizing just how perfect he fit in at OSC. With a few witty jokes, and a quick on his feet sense of humor, I think it’d be safe to say he’s fitting in perfectly with the rest of the team. We’re so lucky to have this artist turned sign-maker on our team! Hear more from Chris, below!
