Sometimes, you just know immediately that someone is going to fit in perfectly on your team. And I think it’s safe to say that everyone at OSC felt that way as soon as they met Ekke. Talented, hard-working and friendly?! Yeah we think we’ll keep him around. Hear more from Ekke himself, below!
Name: Ekke Hyvönen
Position at OSC: Production Layout Artist
Tell us a little bit more about what this entails? My job is to create the visuals required for proofing and making the exact sign a customer ordered.
Where did you go to college? I went to college in Concordia College, Moorhead Minnesota (which I’m sure is a shocker to all of you!). My degree is in Graphic Design.
Where did you start your career? I started working as a designer for the Cyrus M. Running Gallery over my last year at Concordia. I was also doing freelance work for clients that I acquired mostly through old acquaintances.
How long have you been with OSC? A week and a day!
Favorite thing about your job at OSC? All the amazing people I get to work with, of course!
Favorite OSC tradition, event or work perk? Hmm, I’ll get back to you on that, I am looking forward to the Redhawks game and in-house design competitions though!
Favorite thing about Fargo / Moorhead? All of the different kinds of food I get to experience
When I’m not at OSC you can find me….At home, at the gym, Blarney Stone Pub, it might be easiest to ask where life has thrown me this time.
Favorite place to travel to? Italy, but I haven’t gone to Galapagos yet so that may change…
Favorite restaurant in town? Depends on the day, but Blarney Stone if I have to pick one.
Favorite sports team? Oulun Kärpät. (My birth town’s local hockey team.)
What advice would you give to younger people trying to get into your profession? Reach out to community members, talk to influential people (I know this feels very easy to say). Most importantly go to events in town, especially if companies you’re interested in are going to be there!
