Meet Our Engraving Gents!
Day two of our Production Appreciation Week features the department that never says “no” to a project. They are a creative, hardworking, and extremely valued group of gentlemen. The immaculate product they deliver not only impresses our customer, but it leaves all of us at Office Sign Company in awe; these guys continually expand our capabilities and amaze us with their resourcefulness. With that, a huge thank you goes out to our Engraving Department for always delivering what’s asked of you, displaying your imagination, offering solutions, and overall, being extraordinary coworkers.

In case you missed our previous blog, we will be featuring a different department each day this week to celebrate Production Appreciation Week. This is a week dedicated to highlighting the talented figures and creative minds behind our projects. Today, we present to you our Engraving Department!
Upon entering our Engraving Department at Office Sign Company, you’re greeted by the friendly craftsmen above. They specialize in Braille fabrication, intricate routing of various substrates, laser engraving, and of course, custom projects. They know their way around a workshop, and the outcome of what they make will leave you stunned. They won’t admit to this, but they are a fun department to photograph, too!
“Service” is one of our core values at Office Sign Company, and these gentlemen go above and beyond that value by delivering products made to perfection. They consider every proponent of your purchase – from ADA compliancy to mounting. They are reliable, diligent, and talented individuals who we are fortunate to work with every day. Read their individual bios in the links provided to learn more about each of them!
The Bearded Bing Crosby – Meet Chris!
Read CJ’s full bio here! |
Chris, also known as CJ, is the Board Game Guru and “Bearded Bing Crosby” of OSC. CJ is our Braille Specialist here, and is the reason we are able to facilitate ADA compliant signs! Which, by the way, is not a requirement to be taken lightly, folks. CJ adds to our culture simply by his presence. He’s a true team player inside and outside of work functions. Case in point: he provided live music at our Holiday Lights Parade float last year. To give you an idea of the dedication, it was 14 degrees that evening, and he sang for the full two hours it took us to get through the parade. Oh, and he played the guitar simultaneously. What a guy, right? We’re fortunate to have you on our team, CJ, and we have the utmost appreciation for you!
A Sign Industry Vet – Meet Jamey!
Read Jamey’s full bio here! |
It’s difficult to write about a valued employee like Jamey and not write out a novel. His contributions to this company are second-to-none. He provides a knowledge about signs, installments, materials, and more that is invaluable to us. Jamey is our Production Manager at OSC, and has been with our company for over 4 ½ years. In those 4.5 years, he has provided his insights on machines in order to expand our capabilities, he’s taught new employees tricks of the trade, and his “Get it Done” attitude has helped us stand out in this community. A sincere thank you goes out to Jamey for always following through – we appreciate you and your in-depth knowledge. Enjoy a piece of advice from the sign vet himself:
“With all the new technology out there, which can do pretty much anything, NEVER give up the opportunity to learn. Work with your hands. Get dirty. Actually manufacture something from start to finish. There is no better feeling of accomplishment or pride if you can make something from almost nothing, and then have other people enjoy it as much as you did making it.”
Andrew – The Zund Wizard
Read Andrew’s full bio here! |
Andrew Hoffman is what we consider a silent warrior of the Engraving Department. He is our CNC Operator, which entails running the Zund CNC. This machine sees quite a bit of the products shipped out daily, so Andrew stays busy keeping his queue low! We struck gold when we hired Andrew, as his CNC skills are evident outside of work, too. Andrew possesses the ability to seek out opportunity and satisfy it. He’s a true team player in how he contributes to our culture, and his faithful maintenance of one of our most valued machines at Production. We appreciate you, Andrew! Fun fact about our Zund Wizard? He owns a small CNC machine where he does wood carving with in his home.
A Cut Above the Rest – Meet Stefan!
Read Stefan’s full bio here! |
Stefan is our Engraving Manager at OSC, and his role is one that varies daily. Like all of our managers here, Stefan puts in so much time, energy, and thought to every task he carries out. His consideration for our customers and his cohorts is commendable. He offers a helping hand where it’s needed, acts as a reliable source to everyone who approaches him with questions, and he doesn’t shy away from a challenging fabrication process. Stefan is another invaluable individual at Office Sign Company, and I speak on behalf the company when I express that. If ever there is a shortage of hands in our Engraving Department, Stefan is right alongside his team to ensure the work gets done. Fun fact about Stefan? He is a vintage car connoisseur!
Meet the Office’s Dwight!
Read Dwight’s full bio here! |
The latest and greatest to join our Engraving Department crew is Dwight! Dwight is our Sign Production Assistant who is quickly becoming acclimated to our culture and our company. His primary job at OSC is assisting in engraving and Braille, and wherever he’s needed. He’s a regular Jack-of-all-trades here, and we are fortunate to have him! We’re excited to have added another member of our team who is also excited about our culture. That in itself is an endearing quality. Thank you for bringing more enthusiasm to our team, Dwight! Fun fact about Dwight: he’s watched the TV show “Scrubs” all the way through 7 times.
The Bandana Bandit – Meet Ian!
Read Ian’s full bio here! |
Ian Holmes is well on his way to stealing the “Best Headwear” award at OSC. It’s currently between him and our visor-wearing Shipping Specialist, Scott, but Ian’s bandana might take the cake. Ian is our Laser Engraving Specialist and operates our engravers. Ian facilitates orders that range from promotional goods to name badges, and he’s been a great addition to our team in general. He brings a sense of humor to the stage that is matched by few, and also contributes to our Culture Committee to ensure we’re all having a good time. Fun fact about Ian: he’s a fraternal twin!
Joe – Our Secret Weapon
Read Joe’s full bio here! |
Joe, like his title entails, is in fact our secret weapon. Joe possesses a vast knowledge of craftsmanship that sets Office Sign Company apart. His creativity has built parade floats, family farm signs, a custom mini golf course, custom trophies, a plinko board, and so much more. The list goes on, and it would quite honestly take a book to credit him in the way he deserves. Joe is the “Yes, Man” of Office Sign Company as he follows his creativity to facilitate whatever is asked of him. Whenever faced with the question of, “Can we do something like that?” The answer is, “Joe probably can.” His advice to younger individuals trying to get in his profession is short and sweet, and he displays it daily: “Always give 110%.” Thank you, Joe, for all that you do for Office Sign Company. We truly wouldn’t be the same without you!
A sincere thank you goes out to each of the gentlemen who make up our Engraving Department. Because of your craftsmanship, we are able to continually meet the standard set for our company, and go beyond what is expected of us. Thank you to CJ, Jamey, Andrew, Stefan, Dwight, Ian and Joe for all that you do!
