Even though I haven’t had a chance to work directly with Justin, I’ve heard nothing but great things about him since my first day on the job. An enthusiastic guy with an obvious passion for people, Justin joins us again for the summer and we’re so glad to have him back on the team! Hear more about Justin below….
Name: Justin Montplaisir
Position at OSC: Accountant (Temporary for Summer)
Tell us a little bit more about what this entails? I essentially make sure that the bills are paid, and we have enough money to keep operating, as well as processing payments from our customers while also acting as the HR person for a few things since this is still a small company.
Where did you go to college? I am currently in my last year at NDSU, I will be starting the MAcc program this year to get my masters in accounting to eventually become a CPA.
Where did you start your career? I actually started my career here at OSC as an accounting intern.
How long have you been with OSC? This is a complicated question only for fact that I worked here last January through August and I switched from accounting to assembly halfway through my time here. Then I recently started back in accounting, but it will only be temporarily for the summer. So the actual answer would be under a year.
Favorite thing about your job at OSC? All of the awesome people I get to work with everyday!
Favorite OSC tradition, event or work perk? OSC Olympics were my favorite event from the last time I was here, but followed closely by the corporate cup.
Favorite thing about Fargo / Moorhead? The feeling of a smaller town, but with the bigger city opportunities.
When I’m not at OSC you can find me….Being active, whether it be running, kickball or even skydiving.
Favorite place to travel to? Rome, Italy. I traveled there quite a few years ago but I have always wanted to go back because it was so incredible.
Favorite restaurant in town? I would say King House buffet downtown here, because you can never go wrong with Chinese food.
Favorite sports team? Essentially any professional team from Minnesota, NDSU, and the U.S. Soccer National Teams.
What advice would you give to younger people trying to get into your profession? Internships are probably the most important thing in the field of accounting, just because of the fact that you don’t fully understand how you will like the major until you are doing it day to day. They open up so many future possibilities from a networking standpoint, and is how I came upon this opportunity at OSC.
