It’s easy to shop local when you have the perfect places to do so. For this Friday Feature, we’re shedding some light on the place that helps put food on your table: Prairie Roots Food Co-op! With their recent grand re-opening, it was only fitting to give them the feature they deserve.
Prairie Roots officially opened in July of 2017 as a community-owned grocery store. And as of recent, they held a grand re-opening! This re-opening featured the changes they’ve made based off of customer feedback. They lowered prices of over 600 items and in general adapted to their customers. Quite an applaudable move after only being open for six months, and proof that they care about providing great, local service and fresh food! Even during the cold winter months, fresh grains and other local good are readily available.
What’s the best part about this natural grocery store? Besides the fresh, healthy, and local concept: it’s the co-op. By definition, their co-op is locally owned and dedicated to the community. With 1,879 (and counting) investors in this co-op, it makes their mission of promoting local farmers and ranchers that much more powerful. It also reflects the community we live in because it shows the utmost support we have for one another. Remember the Super Bowl commercial from a few years back called “Farmer?” In case you haven’t seen it, watch this video and thank your local farmers, ranchers, and grocers. Here at Office Sign, we’re pretty fortunate because we get to work with these kinds of businesses and learn their stories and missions. We were pleased to be able to provide signage for Prairie Roots, and we hope to work with them again!
“The best part about working with them was the sense of pride that we are helping a local business that sources local produce/products,” says Mike, the Account Manager behind this project. Originally, the signs shown below didn’t have the color in the middle of each letter. That was added recently and it’s called pin-striping to add a nice pop to some signage! Here are a few photos of the signage that we had the opportunity to “produce.” Pun only semi-intended.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to stop into this “one-stop shop” natural grocery store, mark it on your Honey-Do list. The produce is fresh, the staff is friendly, and your senses seem to draw you straight towards the deli. Which, by the way, offers hot lunches and a different menu each day.
This grocery store is meant for everyone, and we encourage you to check it out! Their website is just as navigational-friendly as their store, too, if you need to explore before exploring (we’ve all done that).
As mentioned by Kaye Kirshe, Project Director of Prairie Roots, in their latest Valley News Live news release, this co-op is “for the community, by the community.” We at Office Sign encourage you all to shop local and check out this grocery store! Located on the corner of NP Avenue and University, it’s at the prime location to swoop in and stock your cupboards.
Thank you for reading, and check out this week’s #FeatureFriday when you have the chance. Cheers!
