Do you ever think back to that first warm day of the year, the first sign that summer is coming, and then you blink and it’s fall? Well for those that are geographically close to our HQ in Fargo, ND you probably relate to this as much as we do. We swear it was just the beginning of summer two second ago and wow what a summer it was. At Office Sign Company we had one of the busiest summers in our history including record sales (thanks to all of you), new staff, an order from Spike Lee’s company and a mouse even jumped off the roof (almost) on one of our team members! So much went on and we thought what better way to celebrate the changing of the seasons than with Office Sign Company’s Summer in Review:
Passing the Torch
The OSC Olympic Torch that is! The 4th Annual OSC Olympics took place with the help of our management team and the culture committee! Events included: frozen t-shirt contest, kerplunk, tippy cup, obstacle course, balloon darts, crab soccer and javelin throw. In the end, memories were made, frozen t-shirts were worn, champions were made, but overall OSC company culture took home the gold.
Take us out to the Ballgame
In August our team took a back seat to playing sports and decided to go watch a Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks game! A few of us might have gotten distracted by the ballpark hot dogs and mini-donuts, but the game was a HUGE hit (pun intended). Our team prides themselves on not only being co-workers, but also friends outside of work! In fact we were having SO much fun we can’t even remember who won the game. Does that make us super fans or super coworkers? Either way we had a blast!
Over the Edge
In the beginning of August, a few members of our team got to go Over the Edge with CHARISM. This involved rappelling down the side of the Black Building, a notable landmark in Downtown Fargo. Our team strapped in and faced their fears all for a good cause! This once in a lifetime experience not only went back to a worthy nonprofit, but got to help our employees develop themselves as individuals. Tiffany can even be seen smiling before her turn to go Over the Edge despite her fear of heights!
#OSCares
Later in August our #OSCares team got to work with Hope Blooms, a local nonprofit dedicated to re-purposing donated flowers by rearranging them into beautiful bouquets that are distributed throughout the local community. Our team got to try their hands at making floral arrangements and none of us should quit our day jobs just yet! Overall we created 74 bedside bouquets for residents at a local senior living center. While we were there we also got to see some of our signage that was donated to warm up the Hope Blooms space!
Potlucks, products & productivity
In the wise words of Michael Scott “An office is a place where dreams come true” and our dream was to hold the best Hawaiian potluck our North Dakota staff had ever seen. We achieved this dream complete with pineapple salsa, Hawaiian rolls, bagel dip and more! Our staff wore Hawaiian shirts and leis to pretend the temperatures weren’t dropping outside and a live ukulele performance even took place! Let’s be honest though we’ve worked hard this summer and deserved a little fun. We’ve introduced SO many new products to meet the growing needs of our customers. Like seriously we are talking hashtag signs, laser engraved wine tumblers, custom indoor rugs, metal outdoor directories, silver rhinestone name tags, brushed metal braille signs, bathroom signs, new wooden sign options, and office glass decals!
Loco for Local Installs
We are proud to serve our clientele that is both near and far! However, every once and a while we get a chance to see our hard work in person with local installs. This summer was no exception as we worked on quite a few amazing local installs. The first of which was a partnership with the New Life Center, an organization committed to helping the homeless not only survive, but truly thrive. We partnered with their new location to provide a series of vinyl wall wraps that incorporate pieces of their mission. Another notable local install featured a partnership with Team Abovo as we provided a unique piece for Bell Insurance. We helped install Abovo’s designs to a 70 foot brick wall that offers a new vantage point for offices on the third floor that would otherwise just view brick everyday at work. The vinyl also incorporates many different pieces of Fargo’s history throughout the years! There were truly SO many amazing local installs this year so be sure to check out our Facebook page to see even more!
We’ve had a ton of fun this summer, even if it went by quicker than we wanted, and it is due in part to our AMAZING customers! Thank you for trusting Office Sign Company for all of our business needs. In doing so you’ve let us be a crab soccer champion and a ukulele player and a salsa chef and a baseball fan all while creating a pretty kick a** company culture.
