Fresh Prints of Fargo
Now this is a story all about how,
we added a sign shop right in town.
And, I’d like to take a minute to discuss it so,
I’ll tell you how we made these prints from the town of Fargo.
Okay, so maybe I’m not as good of a rapper as the real Fresh Prince, but we do have an exciting announcement to make! Earlier this month, we opened up our second location in Fargo which gave us an additional 16,000 sq. ft. of space. What this new production space gave us (in addition to some extra leg room), was the opportunity to add on new machinery that would expand our production capabilities. The most exciting equipment we added? Our brand new flatbed printer, which produces fine-art quality prints on a variety of substrates, ranging from metal to wood. This large format printer is capable of printing high quality portraits that are up to 4 ft. by 8 ft (those are some BIG prints!).
Office Sign Company is constantly looking for new ways to improve our processes and add additional sign-making capabilities for our customers. Last month we talked about our brand new drive-in station for vehicle wraps, and this month we are happy to discuss our new large format printing! With our new printing capabilities, we’re able to create high definition, full color prints of logos, artwork, photos, paintings, and more in minutes. Now it’s time to tell you some more about these fresh prints from Fargo.
As is the nature in the sign industry, businesses are always looking for creative new ways to implement their logos and pictures on signage. Likewise, local artists (such as our friends at the Arts Partnership in Fargo) need to count on companies like us to provide a platform for which their artwork can be digitally transferred onto new surfaces. Our new large format printing is a way to benefit both of these groups of individuals, so that we can beautify interior spaces of homes and offices.
Here are some of the main substrates that we can create high definition prints on:
- Metal: Whether it be aluminum or polymetal, we would love to have the opportunity to print your logo or artwork on metal.
- Wood: Bamboo, walnut, maple, and more! The flatter the surface, the better, but we are also willing and able to print on rougher wood surfaces such as reclaimed barn wood.
- Foam Core: This substrate is one of our most popular for printing digital images. It’s a substrate with a dense foam interior and a thin, white cardboard exterior. Below are some examples of prints we’ve made using foam core. (Shoutout to Bri Lee for the photography).
- Gator Board: Similar to foam core, gator board also has a dense inner core made of foam. However, it’s exterior is made of a wood-fiber veneer. And yes, we can print on this, too.
- Canvas: Our fresh prints also extend to canvas, wherein we can print digital renderings of paintings, portraits, and more!
- Corrugated Plastic: Have you seen those large 4 ft. high Doug Burgum for ND signs around town? Those were us, too. Our prints on corrugated plastic are as vibrant in color as they are cost-efficient. See for yourself:
- Glass and Acrylic: We can print first surface (on the front side) or second surface (back side) on either glass or clear acrylic, which makes for a stunning image and some great signage for your workplace.
- And More!: If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times: we don’t say no. If you want to bring us in a substrate, we can certainly try to print on it! We’ve printed on everything from a school logo on the back of an iPhone case to a high-definition painting on a textured canvas. So what else do you need to know before getting your first fresh print:
- Dimensions: We can print on any item that is equal to or less than 4′ x 8′ x 2″ thick.
- Quality Settings: We can print anywhere from “Production” quality (which is used for substrates such as corrugated plastic yard signs) to “Fine Art” and “High Definition” (for photographs, digital portraits, etc.). We’d be happy to walk you through these various settings so you can see which is best for your you. We also plan on having a showroom at our downtown location soon.
- Price: The price we charge for these prints varies drastically based on substrate (corrugated plastic and foam core being some of the least expensive, and wood and metal being some of the more expensive), the size of the piece (can go up to 4 ft. by 8 ft.), and the quantity of prints (as the labor expense goes down with each print). If you have something in mind, send us a message to receive a quote.
- Where to Bring my Substrate: Either our downtown location, where orders are processed (310 NP Ave N) or our Production Headquarters in North Fargo, where the printer is located (1416 41st St N). It’s best to call us at 701-526-3835 before hand to set up a time to drop your substrate off.
- What Else: If you have a substrate that is larger than 4’x8′, don’t fret. Our engraving team can likely cut it down to size.
