Friday Feature: Rod, the Assembling God

It didn’t take Rodney long to become a fan favorite at our Office Sign Company Production Facility. From his knack for going the extra mile in our Assembly/Quality Control department, to his friendly smile and discernible laugh, Rod has been a welcomed addition to our OSC family. Originally from the San Diego area, and still a die-hard Chargers fan (poor soul), Rodney brings his easy-going, west coast attitude to our shop – and we’re very grateful for it! Rodney also celebrated his birthday this past week, making this an even more special Friday Feature. Here’s a little bit more about Rod…

Position at OSC: Assembly/Quality Control Specialist

Tell us a little bit more about what this entails?: The assembly and quality control of products that come from production, and answering questions from customer service.

Where did you go to college? If you graduated, what is your degree in?: Wahpeton (NDSCS), with a degree in graphic arts.

Where did you start your career?: Here in Fargo at a print shop called Valley Instant Printing

How long have you been with OSC?: Just over one year

Favorite thing about your job at OSC?: Everything. OSC Olympics, pizza parties, going to the RedHawks game, team building events, etc.

Favorite OSC tradition, event or work perk?: Donuts, bagels, popcorn, and anything else that is brought in.

Favorite thing about Fargo/Moorhead?: How friendly the people are, and the wide open spaces.

When I’m not at OSC you can find me…. At home working in the backyard or watching sports, or old movies.

Favorite place to travel to?: San Diego, because that is where I am from, and I have lots of family still there.

Favorite restaurant in town?: Fry’n Pan, where I got a free meal ticket for my birthday.

Favorite sports team?: It was the San Diego Chargers, but now they moved away, so I guess it’s the Philadelphia Eagles because Carson Wentz plays for them.

What advice would you give to younger people trying to get into your profession?: Have fun at what you’re doing no matter what it is, work should not be hard, but fun- it’s what you make of it.
